During summers between college, Doug worked in the aerospace industry with monkeys, put cardboard boxes on pallets, and met his future wife in Naples, Italy. A bachelor's degree afforded Doug the opportunity to fight communist aggression in Vietnam for a year. Though he felt unsuited for this work, he had little choice but to take the job; consequently, we lost the war.

So Doug married and moved with his bride to Utah to cook Mexican food in a ski area. When the Mexican food began to look a little too familiar, Doug and his wife moved to Portland where he began a family and a teaching career--first in a junior high schoool, then in a high school, and now at Mt. Hood Community College.

Among Doug's favorite current activities are long walks on the beach, candlelit baths, moisturizing, and being unusually sensitive.
